The youth, Congolese educated women need to step in and do their share as well.' ..'I would like to inspire others to be free in their way of thinking and not to be afraid to take action particularly as women. Too many educated women are sitting back too quietly whilst other are on the frontline and it needs to change. ' .... VIEW PHOTOS ... The last time I attended a meeting in Parliament was in November 2013 about Conflict Minerals debate on Congo. I felt so frustrated by the some of the speech I lock myself out and wept. The task seems so overwhelming. Some women reminded me on that day that the work has to be done and it is still important for Congolese to be at the heart of UK Parliament where decisions are made about the future of Congo, regardless of the policy frustrations it makes a difference. Another woman also reminded me that during the Apartheid regime they had to wear gloves to send letters to members because they were tracked and still they carry on their work until Victory. I sat and watch her tirelessly speak and educate the assembly on the damages Rwanda has done in Congo despite being surrounded by speakers praising the artificial achievements of Rwanda for overcoming its genocide. But fomenting a genocide, invading , killing raping and looting another country to achieve wealth is not a victory. We keep going… LATEST NEWS - February 2014 Detailed news on our main site: on http://www.africalives.org/Pages/NEWS.aspx From Shana Mongwanga's and our Social Media sites regarding the assault of Congolese-born and Belgian Deputy-MP GISELE MANDAILA who opposed the inhuman deportation of a Congolese woman and was then arrested, punched in the face and threatened with suffocation by Belgian Policemen. ' I find it SHOCKING AND REPULSING that there is very little to no support at all from Congolese groups, media or organisations regarding what has happened to Congolese-born and Belgian Deputy-MP GISELE MANDAILA who opposed the inhuman deportation of a Congolese women and was then arrested, punched in the face and threatened with suffocation by Belgian Policemen. I AM JUST SHOCKED at deliberate omission of this news to inform the Diaspora and just showing support and concern . IF Ms MANDAILA WAS A CONGOLESE MAN OR DEFENDING A CONGOLESE MAN WILL IT BE NEWS-WORTHY FOR SOME PEOPLE? If she had the political correctness of hating imperialism and worshipping openly Lumumba or Jesus or both, maybe she will be worthy of a share on facebook or a tweet? As I have documented and in my films Congolese women who have been the first victims of war and are organising actively to regain their dignity in a country plagued by rape and from what I KNOW and have DOCUMENTED Ms Mandaila in her capacity as Belgian MP and other Belgian MPs are actively engaging in supporting women on the ground and in the Diaspora AS YOU CAN SEE IN THIS VIDEO at 3min31'' from our film ''2016=CONGO'S NEW DAWN' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBi_mPwv9kI SO WHY ISN'T HER ATTACK WORTH INFORMING PEOPLE? Aren't the deportation conditions of asylum seekers and recurrent deaths in detention centre worth informing people about? Shouldn't this be an opportunity to highlight those issues? I suppose when Ms Mandaila passes than it's easier to recuperate and build her as an icon. But when women are alive and denouncing injustice who is there support them? I hope more CONGOLESE WOMEN DEVELOP THEIR OWN BLOGS AND MEDIA PLATFORM TO INFORM OTHERS AND TRULY IMPACT ON EVENTS LIKE THIS. Just beyond sad!
